Dealing with depression can be tough, regardless of the symptoms you may be experiencing. Sometimes, getting up from the bed can be a real challenge.
With that said, here are tips to keep you out of the couch or bed.
1. Sit up
Start by sitting up. You can use anything nearby that can help you sit up.
2. Think of Breakfast
Thinking about coffee or food can be motivating, especially when you feel your stomach grumbling. However, if you have appetite loss, think of your favorite breakfast meal.
3. Use an Alarm Clock
Place your alarm clock or phone out of reach while preparing successive alarms. You won’t have a choice but to get up and turn it off. It especially helps to put your alarm clock at a far reach so you can be prompted to wake up to silence it.
4. Choose a Routine
Having an everyday routine will always motivate you to get out of bed even when you don’t feel like it. Just choose an activity or something that motivates you like your phone. However, don’t spend the entire time scrolling your phone.
5. Look Around
Do you have a pet? Focus on them, feed them, walk them, or cuddle with them. Spending time with your pet can have a positive influence on your current mood. Do you have a pen and paper? Write the things you are thankful for.
If you start your mornings right, that may be your key to having an awesome day.
